TUMACACORI NATIONAL HISTORICAL PARK
ON VINTAGE POSTCARDS

Tumacacori National Historical Park is located in far southern Arizona about 48 miles south of Tucson. It contains the ruins of three historic church complexes built by Spanish missionaries during the eighteenth century: Tumacacori, Calabasas, and Guevavi. The park site was established in 1908 by presidential proclamation as Tumacacori National Monument. The monument consisted of what is now the main unit of the park -- Mission Tumacacori in the village of Tumacacori -- which houses the visitor center and museum. In 1990 the ruins of the visita Calabasas and Mission Guevavi were added to the park and the name was changed to Tumacacori National Historical Park.

The postcards in this exhibit depict scenes of areas that are now in Tumacacori National Historical Park. The vintage postcards date from the early twentieth century to the 1980s. The actual text printed on the postcards is in quotation marks.
